What is Meditation? The Answer is in the Question

If I were to tell you the true nature of your self your mind would not be able to understand my words. In fact the real essence of your self transcends words which are a function of the ego-based part of your mind. Your true sense of self can only be experienced by using certain techniques that gradually quieten the incessant chatter of your ego. Do this repeatedly on a daily basis and slowly the essence of who you really are will begin to emerge.
This transformation cannot take place by intellectual discussions about your true nature or by any form of psychoanalysis. Why, because any discussion between two people would be transmitted through the ordinary mind i.e. your ego. And, as I said before your fundamental nature can only begin to emerge during periods when your ego is quiet.
The only way to silence the ego is through the practice of meditation. However, by meditation I mean the practice of ancient well-known, well tried techniques that are successful in calming the ego. I do not mean New Age techniques that have not been tried and tested and offer an easy solution. I mean simple techniques that are repeated until the mind is still, and then the nature of your real self will slowly begin to unfold.
You may wonder what can be gained from finding out your true nature. The answer is mind blowing, and completely outside the scope of your ordinary ego-based mind to comprehend. Therefore, I cannot put it into any form of words that your mind will understand. You will just have to try it for yourself and see. if you want to find out more or learn some simple meditation techniques please visit the Meditation Center.
